Construction works at Warnbro Train Station are expected to continue for several months, according to the Public Transport Authority.

Communications manager David Hynes said the $4.5 million upgrade program, which includes five new bus stands and a park and ride area, would be completed towards the end of the year. “This course of action was decided upon because, while the local community is growing, there is no capacity to increase parking at the station,” he said.

“It is bordered by the rail line and residential properties on one side and by wetlands on the other.”

“On an average weekday, Warnbro station is used by about 2900 people, about 1000 of who arrive by bus.” Mr Hynes said upgrades would include a continuous canopy above bus stands to shelter passengers.

“The works mean that passengers waiting for buses will soon be able to do so undercover,” he said.
