Willow is ready for Rockingham walk

ARRAN MORTONSound Telegraph

It is always nice to get dressed up and four-year-old Willow will be one of hundreds of dogs to get their glad rags on for Rockingham’s first Million Paws Walk.

The German shepherd-pointer has travelled to Perth with owner Kim Morgan for the popular event since she was a puppy and can’t wait to tackle the 5km walk on Sunday.

“We’ve gone up to the city for the Million Paws Walk about 10 times now,” Mrs Morgan said.

“Our Weimaraner Montana, who passed away at the age of 14 two years ago, went every year until she was too old to manage.”

Mrs Morgan said she first took part in the RSPCA fundraiser when she was pregnant with daughter Madison, now 9, and was delighted the event was taking place in Rockingham.

“It’s just a really good family day out — something that we can do together — and a day that we all look forward to,” she said.

“It’s great that Rockingham dog-lovers won’t have to travel to the city anymore to take part.

“It’s not often that you can take your pets along to things and it’s all for a good cause.”

She said she had encouraged other dog owners who she had met while walking Willow at a nearby dog beach to also get involved with the event.

“Willow will be getting dressed up in her Lady Doga outfit that we found online — it’ll be good fun,” she said.

Mayor Barry Sammels said the walk was a great cause.
