Baldivis man charged
A 58-year-old Baldivis man faced court today after being charged with over 50 counts of indecent acts and dealings with children.
Niaz Ahmed Ali appeared at Armadale Magistrate’s Court on Friday and was remanded in custody to reappear for committal mention on May 17.
Armadale Detectives have confirmed that an investigation into suspicious activity by a man in the vicinity of children has led to an arrest.
Police claim the charges relate to a man frequenting various fast-food outlets, parks, playgrounds and shopping centres across the south metropolitan area between 2014 and 2016.
A Mobile Police Facility was deployed in Trusty Park in Baldivis on February 4 to seek information from people, including children, that had contact with the man.
Mr Ali faces 20 counts of committing an indecent act with intent to insult or offend, 18 counts of a child sex offender being near a public place, eight counts of indecent dealings with a child under 13 and two counts of indecent dealings with a child over 13.
If you are or have been the victim of child sexual abuse or have information about someone being abused, contact police on 131 444.
