The two services held in Rockingham to mark Anzac Day are expected to draw crowds of thousands tomorrow, with people looking to pay their respects.

The second largest service in Western Australia after Kings Park, the Rockingham dawn service and main service usually attract a total of 20,000 attendees, with this year’s crowd expected to be the same.

Rockingham RSL president Ian Brook said it was important to pay tribute to those who fought for the country, and that it was important to “respect all of our veterans, including the ones who are still fighting”.

The dawn service will take place from 5.45am at the Cenotaph in Village Green, Flinders Lane.

At 10.30 am, the march will set off, which will then be followed by a service at 11am.

Some of the groups marching will include the Royal Australian Navy, Rockingham and Port Kennedy RSLs, the Totally and Partially Disabled Veterans of WA, light horse infantries, the Rockingham Fire Brigade and the Baldivis Bush Fire Brigade, St John’s Ambulance, WA Police, the State Emergency Service, the Australian Red Cross, Police Ranger Cadets and local Guide and Scout groups, among others.

Parking access to Flinders Lane, Rockingham Beach Road, Kent Street and Rail Terrace will close from 9am until 12pm, therefore, limited parking will be available on the foreshore.

The 555 bus will be running, from either the train station or shopping centre to the foreshore area. The Port Kennedy RSL will also host a gunfire breakfast following the City of Rockingham RSL sub-branch’s dawn service, at a cost of $5 per person.

There will be free entry to the club all day.
