Brumbies triumph in Anzac Day nail-biter

David SalvaireSound Telegraph

Baldivis Brumbies held off a determined Halls Head outfit during a nail-biting two point win in yesterday’s Anzac Day clash.

After a sluggish start at their home ground, the Lightning came flying back and held most of the momentum throughout the game but couldn’t keep Baldivis at bay, eventually falling 9.7 (61) to 8.15 (63).

With a 13-point buffer at quarter time, the Brumbies were looking good but a six-goal second quarter from Halls Head put the visitors under pressure heading into the major break.

Baldivis were scrappy but relentless in their forward pressure in the final quarter to kick away and take the four points.

The rousing performance is the Brumbies’ first win of the season after a poor start to their 2017 PFNL campaign.

The win moves the reigning premiers into sixth on the ladder.
