Opponents of the Mangles Bay Marina proposal in Rockingham have called on Planning Minister Rita Saffioti to update the community on the latest developments with the project.

The WA Planning Commission has made a recommendation to Ms Saffioti on the potential rezoning of the land where LandCorp and Cedar Woods propose establishing the facility — but the information has not been released.

Hands Off Point Peron spokeswoman Dawn Jecks said the public had a right to know the State Government’s plans for the area.

“It is disappointing that even though the WAPC presented their report and recommendations to Ms Saffioti over three months ago, the minister hasn’t released the report and we still don’t know what the Government plans to do,” she said.

“We believe that all the people and organisations who made submissions to the WAPC have a right to see the WAPC’s report, as does the general public.

“We are calling on the minister to disclose the report without further delay.”

Hands Off Point Peron is holding a meeting on Wednesday at 6.45pm at the Gary Holland Community Centre to talk about the group’s vision for a coastal park alternative to the marina.
