Cheers as career takes off in the US
Fresh off the plane from America, you can still hear a slight Australian twang in Rockingham actress Krystina Tasker’s Los Angeles accent.
It’s been two years since the 22-year-old was back in her home town; having made the trip for her grandparents’ 60th wedding anniversary last week.
For the last four years Tasker has been living and working in LA as an actor, and with a lead role in an upcoming film — Cheer Off — it’s been a busy few years.
Production for the film will begin in September, with Tasker to play an Australian student who moves to a new school to join the cheerleading team.
Careful not to reveal too much, Tasker said a star from 2000 cheerleading comedy film Bring It On has been cast to play her mum.
“It’s cheerleading based and I’ve been dancing since I was three, so finally I get to use one of my special skills for something,” she said.
“I think it’s so funny that I go all the way to LA and end up playing an Australian.”
Tasker has also had a key role in the soap opera Days of Our Lives as the best friend of the main character, Ciara.
Three episodes have been filmed to date and are set to air in coming months.
Tasker plans to continue working in film and TV in LA.
