Helping to address environmental issues along our coast, the Kwinana Beach Coastcare Group is calling on the public to take part in a planting day later this month.

Over the past 20 years, the group has been working to combat environmental degradation and have planted vegetation at Wells Park in Kwinana.

Attracting strong numbers to their recent planting days, this month’s event will focus on planting coastal species along the foreshore at the park.

Perth NRM south Coast and Marine Manager Kathleen Broderick said planting in the area was contributing to making the park a more attractive place to visit as well as creating or enhancing habitats for wildlife. “It’s great to feel like you are contributing to the community in a positive way, and you also get to meet like-minded people,” she said, encouraging those interested to come down on the day.

Kids are welcome and participants will be provided with gloves, spades and plants, as well as food and drink.

The Kwinana Beach Coastcare Day is from 9am on June 29, and is supported by the City of Kwinana, Kwinana Industries Council and Perth NRM.
