Bringing the community together to raise awareness around mental health, and to create a fun day out, headspace Rockingham will this week hold their annual open day.

To celebrate Mental Health Week WA and headspaceday, the third open day for the local branch of the organisation will be held this Thursday.

The event will feature live music from local musicians, Ricky Green, Ella Melton, Tandem and Kieran Samuel, as well as free burgers from Grill’d Rockingham, live magic, guided tours of the centre, as well as art activities and giant games.

headspace community awareness officer Jeremy Tucker said the theme of the day was “Add a little colour to your day”, with activities such as a giant colouring wall, and giant art installation being prepared as part of the celebrations.

With a third of young Australians currently reporting high or very high levels of psychological distress, Mr Tucker said the event was a way for people to see what services were available for them.

More than 300 people attended the event last year, with any ages welcome to the event.

“It’s a great chance to check out the space and celebrate Mental Health Week,” he said.

The open day will be held this Thursday from 2pm-5pm at the headspace office at Unit 3/18 Goddard St, Rockingham.
