Leaders in business recognised at Rockingham Kwinana Chamber of Commerce awards night

Rockingham Kwinana Chamber of Commerce has hailed the success of its annual awards gala night on Saturday.

The best of the region’s businesses were recognised at the Gary Holland Community Centre, where Impressions Catering was crowned business of the year.

As well as award winners, there were a number of highlights on the night including an announcement from major sponsor Mineral Resources it would extend its commitment to the awards for a further five years.

Former Brand MHR and Mineral Resources external affairs manager Gary Gray made the announcement and commended the strong presence and performance of women in business throughout the region.

Tourism Rockingham also announced on the night 12 months free membership for businesses affected by the refurbishment of Rockingham foreshore, which president Stacey Graham said would be crucial to helping keep them in the public eye.

“Tourism Rockingham is pleased to offer a complimentary 12-month membership to those directly affected so they can take advantage of an extra promotional presence through the visitor centre information base, and assistance to ensure continued business is generated to the foreshore, especially over the coming crucial months,” she said.

Guest speaker Deputy Premier Roger Cook spoke of the strong business culture and community spirit, and the support available from the State Government, while Brand MHR Madeleine King presented the people’s choice award, which attracted more than 3500 votes from members the public.

Other major winners included Jason Kell as businessperson of the year, Ashton Boaden as young businessperson of the year and Dr Christabel Samy as people’s choice winner.
