Lolly Run a highlight of town’s fun
Kwinana is ready to celebrate the festive season with a series of free events.
From outdoor movies to markets, there is plenty happening for the whole family to enjoy.
Last week, the City of Kwinana partnered with the popular Village Markets at Wellard for the Wellard Twilight Christmas Market.
There were more than 40 stalls, local entertainment, a visit from Santa, street performers, games, and a barbecue.
The Summer Outdoor Movie Nights kick off on December 16 and runs through to February 24.
On December 16, January 20, and February 24, there will be a screening of A Christmas Carol, Red Dog True Blue, and Inside Out respectively.
Bring along a picnic and enjoy free movies under the stars in Chisham Square.
There will be a designated seating area for BYO own chairs.
Pre-movie entertainment will begin at 6pm and the film will start at 7.30pm.
This is an alcohol and smoke-free event.
On Christmas morning the renowned Lolly Run will hit the streets of Kwinana once again, with Santa and his helpers delivery lollies and Christmas Cheer.
The Lolly Run started back in 1954 and was an initiative of Alf Lydon and Kwinana’s Toc H branch members.
Christian humanitarian organisation Toc H was founded in 1922 to aid men and families traumatised by the experience of World War I.
Until 2004, the Lolly Run was run through Toc H, but its membership dwindled and upon hearing the Lolly Run was under threat, the Kwinana Rotary Club banded together with council to take over.
The Kwinana Christmas Lolly Run will be on this Christmas from 8am to noon. Listen for the beeps.
