Name and intake area for new Baldivis high school revealed
The name and student intake boundaries for the new Baldivis high school have been released, with the school to be named Ridge View Secondary College.
The name is a nod to the fact the school is located on a high ridge on Sixty Eight Road with views across to the Darling Range.
The suburb’s second government secondary college, after Baldivis Secondary College, will open next year to about 200 students.
Its student intake area is bounded by areas including Safety Bay Road to Nairn Drive to the north, Mandurah Road to the west, east to Hopelands and south to the new estate in Keralup (see map below).
Baldivis MLA Reece Whitby said the opening of the new school would take student population pressure off Baldivis Secondary, while providing the best public education possible.
“Ridge View will be a fantastic addition to the amazing choice of education facilities on offer in Baldivis,” he said.
“Along with Baldivis Secondary College, Ridge View will provide the very best in public education. I look forward to the school opening in term one next year when it will accept its foundation group of about 200 Year 7 students.
“Baldivis is a growing area with young families and Ridge View will play a key role in taking pressure off our existing government high school. Each additional year of students attending Ridge View from 2019 will mean student population pressure will come off Baldivis Secondary College.”
