New Rotary presidents sworn in
The Rotary Clubs of Palm Beach and Rockingham both have new presidents.
Rockingham resident and Thornlie Senior High School principal Donna McDonald took the reins as Rotary Club of Palm Beach president from retired policeman and outgoing president Kevin McDonnell at a handover event held on Saturday, June 20.
The club celebrated a productive 12 months, highlighted by the running of the third Rockingham Beach Cup in November last year.
Many of the clubs planned activities have been shut down by the Covid-19 pandemic.
But Mr Kevin McDonnell said he was grateful the club could again meet in person for the handover following easing of restrictions.
Meanwhile, Rotary Club of Kwinana held its changeover meeting at the Kwinana Bowling Club last Saturday evening.
Outgoing president Wendy Cooper handed duties over to incoming president John Iriks.
Mr Iriks has been a member of Rotary for 40 years and this will be his third time as president of the Club, the previous years being 1985 and 1990.
He also served as District Governor in 2005.
This year Rotary will also be celebrating 100 years in Australia and the Rotary Club of Kwinana will be celebrating its 50th year.
