K9 Dog Rescue group is holding an adoption day on Saturday, December 8, in hope of finding furever homes for about 27 abandoned pooches.

K9 Dog Rescue public relations officer Janine Matthews said the friendly tail-waggers were in desperate need of loving families.

“It’s giving them a second chance at life and the dogs know that,” she said.

“What you give to the dog you get back tenfold.

“Hopefully by the end of the day lots of dogs will have found their special humans.”

K9 Dog Rescue will also be collecting donations to help fund upgrades to its old kennel block to ensure dogs are kept comfortable during their stay.

“We want to find homes for some of our more long-term dogs, but also raise some funds to upgrade our old kennel yards that are more than 20 years old,” Ms Matthews said.

“The dogs can’t spend another winter in deteriorated and flooding kennels.”

The adoption day will include fun for the whole family with stalls, kennel tours, free face painting, lucky dip, a sausage sizzle, Santa pictures and a dog parade.

Social dogs are welcome to visit on the day, but must be kept on a lead.

K9 Dog Rescue is located at 58 Sunshine Place, Nambeelup.
