Police discover drugs, weapons, explosive device

Three Kwinana men and a woman from Mandurah are facing serious drugs, assault and weapons charges after Armadale Detectives launched two search warrants at properties in Casuarina and Parmelia earlier this week.

Police executed a search warrant a property in Casuarina on Monday, with the assistance of the Tactical Response Group and the Bomb Response Unit.

It is alleged an improvised explosive device was found next to the entrance door of the premises, with the IED rendered safe before officers entered the house.

Three people were arrested at the property and two later charged, with police alleging a number firearms, ammunition, drugs and drug paraphernalia were seized.

As a result of further enquiries a second search warrant was executed in Parmelia on Wednesday, with police arresting two other people after reportedly seizing more drugs, cash, knuckle dusters and drug paraphernalia.

The search warrants came from enquiries relating to the alleged deprivation of liberty and assault of a 21-year-old woman.

A 36-year-old Casuarina man was charged with deprivation of liberty, assault occasioning bodily harm and is set to appear before the Rockingham Magistrates Court today, with further charges pending.

A-27 year-old Parmelia man is also due to appear before the Rockingham Magistrates Court today, charged with possessing a prohibited drug with intent to sell or supply (methylamphetamine), possessing a prohibited drug with intent to sell or supply (cannabis), with further charges also pending.

A 28-year-old Casuarina man was also charged with aggravated possession of an unlicensed firearm and will appear in Rockingham Magistrates Court on May 8 with further charges pending.

Meanwhile, a 37-year-old Halls Head woman was also charged with breach of bail and possessing a prohibited drug.

She is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on May 8.
