Safety Bay man charged over armed robbery

A Safety Bay man has been charged over an alleged armed robbery where a father was allegedly beaten unconscious in front of his family.

Police say the incident occurred on Sunday, August 6, after three men entered a house in Midland armed with a baseball bat and a firearm at about 7.30pm.

The men allegedly threatened a 32-year-old male occupant and made demands for his personal property, before knocking him unconscious with the bat.

Police say the victim’s partner and his 11-year-old daughter were home at the time.

It will be further alleged the man’s Holden Commodore was stolen from the address and was later found burnt out in Middle Swan.

Police executed search warrants at houses in Safety Bay and Noranda on Monday and Tuesday and arrested four people.

A 34-year-old Safety Bay man has been charged with aggravated burglary, acts or omissions causing bodily harm or danger, aggravated armed robbery, stealing a motor vehicle and two counts of criminal damage.

A 33-year-old Midland man has been charged with aggravated armed robbery, acts or omissions causing bodily harm or danger, aggravated armed robbery, stealing a motor vehicle and criminal damage.

Both men are due to appear in Stirling Magistrates Court at a later date.

A 44-year-old Noranda man was charged with aggravated burglary, acts or omissions causing bodily harm or danger, aggravated armed robbery, stealing a motor vehicle and criminal damage.

He will appear in Midland Magistrates Court today.

Police say a 46-year-old Noranda woman is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court later this month on charges of possessing cannabis and possessing a controlled weapon.
