Scholarship for ‘futurist’
Secret Harbour electrical engineering student Braiden Robson has been named among some of Australia’s brightest minds, recently awarded a Young Technologists scholarship from the Westpac Scholars Trust.
The scholarship is awarded to high school graduates who are passionate about technology and are eager to explore its potential to drive positive social change.
Hoping to work in the science and engineering industry, the now Murdoch University student described himself as a “futurist” — interested in the ways new energy sources and electronic products could shape the future of society.
Westpac Scholars Trust chief executive Susan Bannigan said the scholarship programs, valued at about $15,000 each, were designed to empower and inspire the next generation of young leaders. “We work closely with our university partners to create unique learning experiences that will help these young adults thrive,” she said. As part of the scholarship, Braiden will also join an enrichment program, involving mentoring, paid internships and overseas experience.
