Tranby students shave for leukaemia cause

Tranby College students said goodbye to their locks last Friday, shaving their hair in support of the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave.

Students supported the cause by colouring and braiding or cutting their hair, with nine brave students choosing to shave their heads, and one who bade farewell to her more than 20cm-long ponytail. Another group of students baked brownies, which were sold during recess for a gold coin donation.

The cause hit close to home for Year 8 student Tayah Smallacombe, whose younger cousin was recently diagnosed with leukaemia. With the support of her family, Taylah raised funds online and held a market day, making $4338.24 for the cause.

Overall, the Tranby Team raised $9066.45.
