Rockingham BMX Club young gun Jordan Callum has been nominated as a finalist in the 2017 City of Rockingham Sport Star Awards, with the 12-year-old looking to go one better this time.

The talented rider, who is a student at Baldivis Secondary College, was also a finalist in the 2016 awards but just missed out on being crowned Junior Sports Star.

Originally from Tom Price in the Pilbara, Jordan has ridden for Southside BMX in Bull Creek before joining Rockingham BMX Club last year. With eight years of riding under his belt already, the talented youngster has picked up a swag of State and national honours including twice being crowned national champion. Early next month, Jordan will look to make it three State titles in a row with the WA State Titles at his old track in Bull Creek.

National competition will follow early next year with Australian National Championships to be hosted in Bunbury in March, before a long journey overseas to Baku in Azerbaijan beckons for the World Championships in May 2018.

With BMX becoming an Olympic sport at the 2008 games in Beijing, Jordan said his long-term goal was to compete at Olympic level.

Rockingham BMX Club will also host a come-and-try day on October 14, with budding riders encouraged to come and have a go.
