Sean Thomas Wright pleads not guilty to pouring accelerant around sex worker’s Kalgoorlie-Boulder home

The man accused of pouring an accelerant around a sex worker’s home after she kicked him out of their appointment when he behaved “erratically” has pleaded not guilty to the charge. Sean Thomas Wright entered the plea in Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court on Monday after police confirmed they were still waiting for test results from the alleged accelerant, which Mr Wright’s lawyer claimed in a previous court appearance was water. Police charged the 46-year-old with endangering life, health or safety of a person after they alleged he attended a Lane Street address about 4.30am on October 13 for an appointment with a sex worker, but was asked to leave after he ingested substances and began “visibly overheating” and behaving “erratically”. Police say Mr Wright left the property having received no services, but returned about 8.20am and was yelling and talking incoherently to himself in the front yard before leaving again. Police claim he returned again sometime later with an accelerant and a butane lighter. They say Mr Wright poured the accelerant around the veranda and door frame of the property and lit the butane torch near it, but it did not ignite. The alleged victim was inside and had “no free access” to leave the property except for by the front door where Mr Wright was, police say. Mr Wright already has bail in relation to the matter, and will reappear in March for a trial allocation date.
