Train closer to home as new centre opens
Empyrean Education Institute opened its new training centre at Lark Hill Sporting Complex in Port Kennedy earlier this month by holding an information session for interested students.
The institute, based in Fremantle, will now provide a range hospitality courses at the Lark Hill Sporting Complex to students who want to study closer to home.
Students in the Rockingham area will now be able to complete a Certificate II in Kitchen Operations, a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery and a Certificate III in Hospitality at the facility.
General manager of operations Andrew Hives said the institute wanted to establish itself in the Rockingham and Peel area and this was the first step to achieving that.
“Our main goal is to recruit students and get them ready for full-time employment,” he said.
“We have really good outcomes with students going on to work at camp sites on mines, resorts, hotels and catering companies.
“But not everyone can go to the city and not everyone wants to go to the city to study.”
Mr Hives said the institute was also looking at opening a campus in the Mandurah or Peel area as a way to offer courses to more students.
The next intake for the courses ends on October 30. For more information, visit eei.wa.edu.au.
