The Rockingham Flames have celebrated their best players and volunteers at its annual awards night to mark a significant 2022 season.

They included Wareen Boucaut, who was awarded life membership for his contributions to the club over the years.

Mr Boucaut first walked through the doors of the Mike Barnett Sports Complex in 2011 as a supportive dad to his daughter who had found her new passion through basketball.

In 2016 he became a member of the RBRA (Rockingham Basketball Recreation Association) and the rest is history.

Mr Boucaut had a hand in the Flames winning the 2019 SBL season and this year’s men’s 2022 National Championship win.

“He turned this club around, making it a fair fight and believed that it was possible,” he said.
