City of Rockingham offers free events from baking to financial help for Seniors Week

From baking to financial planning, Rockingham seniors can be part of a wide range of activities to celebrate Seniors Week.

The City of Rockingham is hosting a variety of events this week, culminating in the Celebrate Our Seniors morning at Safety Bay Library on Saturday.

The morning will include an intergenerational cookie decorating class designed for family groups, art by numbers, a virtual reality tour of South-East Asia, and a drumming circle.

There is also a legal future planning workshop run by Elder Rights WA on Thursday and Move Your Body presentation aimed at building strength and balance to prevent falls on Friday.

Rockingham mayor Deb Hamblin said nearly 20 per cent of the city’s population was aged over 65.

“Seniors Week gives us the opportunity to recognise and celebrate their contributions, and we’ve got a range of events and activities on offer to suit everyone’s interests,” she said.

Events are free but bookings essential.
