K9 Rescue pups looking for their fur-ever home at Petstock this weekend

Beuno is rolling into Petstock Port Kennedy this weekend hoping to find his forever home.
The 15-week-old staffy cross is one of the many other lovable dogs on the hunt for a home as part of the national pet chain’s annual rescue pet adoption or fostering weekend.
March is traditionally national pet adoption month but with new puppy farming crackdowns starting in May, including increased regulations for pet stores selling animals, adoptions are increasingly the answer for a pet companion.
From May 26, pet shops that want to continue selling dogs will need to obtain pet shop approval from their local government.
Approved pet shops will be able to supply only dogs sourced from a refuge organisation or dog management facility that has obtained a dog supply approval.
Petstock outlets across Australia partner with local rescue organisations for the annual adoption weekend, with the Port Kennedy store supporting K9 Rescue.

K9 volunteer Maddi Barwise said with up to a dozen surrenders a day, there was a revolving door of dogs at their Nambeelup location.
“As one dog gets adopted or fostered, two or three more will take their place,” she said.
“We’re very excited for another great weekend at Petstock where hopefully some of our rescues will leave us.”
Petstock Port Kennedy employee Jordan Preedy said he was grateful to be part of an organisation that supported such important causes.
“I’m very keen for this weekend; as an animal lover it’s so great to see dogs in need going to their forever homes,” he said.

Since its launch in 2007, the Petstock Foundation has found homes for more than 41,000 rescue pets.
Foundation head Jessica Curtis said adoption not only changes the life of an animal in need but enriches the lives of those who adopt them.
“At Petstock, we believe we have a responsibility to use our platform to create positive change,” she said.
“Our role is to provide a platform that connects rescue pets with loving families, raise awareness about adoption and support local rescue organisations in their mission.”
