Despite a loss on Friday night that went down to the wire, the Rockingham Flames redeemed themselves with a win on Saturday night against the Warwick Senators.

Friday night saw the Flames take on the Joondalup Wolves, a brewing rivalry that seemed sure to be a good game.

It was a tight game the whole night with the Wolves leading by two points at quarter-time before Rockingham clawed their way ahead to go into half-time leading 52-48.

The game was a battle for the ages, with the Flames managing a seven-point lead several times through the second half but the Wolves kept up the fight.

Star imports Devondrick Walker and CJ Turnage were making moves as the scores locked up at 88-88 when Turnage converted his and-one play.

In the end, the Wolves ran away with a 91-88 win on their home floor.

Walker finished the game with 21 points, six rebounds and three assists for Rockingham and Jonathan Wade put up 25 points and 10 rebounds with 5/7 from three-point range for Joondalup.

On Saturday night, things were not looking good for the Flames in the first half as the Warwick Senators played all over the home team at Mike Barnett Sports Complex on Saturday night.

The Senators’ Cody Ellis put on a performance for spectators as he racked up four three-pointers on his way to 22 points, putting the away team in front 51-44 at half-time.

But the Flames dug deep in the second half and regained control, pushing Warwick to a 14-point advantage with the Flames firmly in front.

Rockingham were victorious with an 88-80 win, with Tom Jervis having a stellar night for the Flames with 17 points and 16 rebounds and Cody Ellis with 24 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals for Warwick.

The Rockingham Flames next play Perry Lakes Hawks at Mike Barnett Sports Complex on Friday July 15.
