Plans for a $14 million shopping centre in Baldivis have been approved by the City of Rockingham.

The proposed Parkland Heights Shopping Centre on Lot 9014 Sixty Eight Road will feature two supermarkets, a liquor store, food and beverage outlets and specialty retail spaces.

The plan also includes a town square space leading into the retail areas and other spaces.

The city received four submissions during a 16-day consultation period.

Issues raised included traffic build-up in the area and an upgrade to a nearby roundabout.

The city said the roundabout was not near the development but it would look into upgrades.

It did not expect traffic to be an issue as the main access route would be accessible from Nairn Drive through to Furnivall Parade.

The application has been conditionally approved for four years, pending further approval at the next meeting of the Joint Development Assessment Panel on April 12.
