Defending champions Rockingham Flames continue to be an unstoppable force this NBL1 West season beating the Goldfields Giants and Lakeside Lightning.

The Flames led 36-15 in the first quarter of Wednesday night’s game against Lakeside.

Flames continued to extend the lead by 27 points by the third quarter before securing the 108-79 victory.

Rockingham Flames NBL1 West MVP Devondrick Walker secured 17 points, new import Jeremy Combs has settled in perfectly with 18 points, five rebounds and four assists, and Tom Jervis turned back the clock with 19 points, 14 rebounds and four assists.

Rockingham was back home at Mike Barnett Sports Complex just days after beating Lakeside by 32 points and having won their last six matches so far this season.

The Giants were on a mission to take Flames’ winning streak down in the round five clash.

Flames started off with 27 points to 13 in the opening quarter, before going on to lead by as much as 32 points through the night on the way to the eventual 30-point win, 105-75, to go to 7-0 in Saturday night’s game.

Devondrick Walker put up 16 points for Rockingham with Jeremy Combs adding 15 points and five assists and Travis Durnin 14 points.

Lafonzo Smith top-scored for the now 2-3 Giants with 28 points and 12 rebounds with Michael Dupree contributing 16 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals, and Kon Anguik 12 points and three boards.

Rockingham Flames will take on the Mandurah Magic on Friday at Mike Barnett Sports Complex for round six.
