Warnbro dad left with no car after reckless black Triton driver rammed and flipped vehicle on Kwinana Freeway

A Warnbro dad was forced to crawl over glass to free his six-year-old daughter after a reckless driver caused his car to flip on the Kwinana Freeway. Jordan Wright was driving home from a friend’s house just before 10pm last Saturday with his daughter Jaiden-Louise. The 29-year-old was heading north on the freeway when a black Mitsubishi Triton pulled out in front of him. He said the Triton driver began “brake-checking” him, a senseless act where the driver in front slams on their brake at high speed repeatedly, forcing the car behind to brake suddenly. Mr Wright said the unprovoked Triton driver then pulled into the left-hand lane, slowed down until the vehicles were side by side, then nudged his car with their front bumper. Mr Wright’s Holden Colorado flipped near the Paganoni Road exit and was completely written off. “When it flipped, my first thought was my daughter,” he said. “She was asleep but woke up when we were upside down and began calling out ‘Daddy’. “I unclipped myself and began crawling from the front seat into the back and unclipped her.” A good Samaritan who witnessed the accident stopped to help the pair from the car. The pair were relatively unhurt — Jaiden-Louise suffered a sore neck and Mr Wright had cuts on his knees — but it was a close call that comes after a difficult time for the family. When Jaiden-Louise was just 10 months, she had to undergo open heart surgery and her mother Dena-Marie Mateer said her latest close call was a reminder of what the family had been through. “It’s scary, my child could have died and this person couldn’t even care about their well-being and stop,” she said. “We fought so hard to keep her alive and it’s scary the (other driver) didn’t even care.” Mr Wright said he had no words for the other driver, he just wanted him found. “Why would he go to cut a car off?” he asked. Mr Wright and Ms Mateer are hopeful that someone knows the whereabouts of a black Triton with damage to the front on the driver’s side. Police confirmed they had a record of the accident, saying: “At this stage the investigation remains ongoing.”
