Work starts on redevelopment of clubrooms at Stan Twight Reserve in Rockingham

Construction has started on much-needed upgrades of clubrooms in Rockingham.

East Rockingham company Shelford Constructions is tasked with redeveloping the 1992-built Stan Twight Reserve clubrooms on Hennessy Way.

The project will demolish the existing clubhouse building, with a new clubhouse and changeroom, upgraded flood lighting and extension of the existing carpark.

It is set for completion by the end of 2025.

Stan Twight Reserve is the home ground of Shoalwater Bay Cricket Club, Safety Bay Stingers Football Club and Rockingham Districts Masters Football Club, and is also used to host WA Cricket country week matches.

Stingers president Jo Croft said the redevelopment represented an exciting chapter in the club’s history as it continues “building and growing from strength to strength”, while Shoalwater Bay president Justin Kennedy said it was “an amazing opportunity for local cricket”.

The overhaul will also give Rockingham Districts Masters its first home ground in 26 years.

“We look forward to having modern facilities to use and a secure long-term future with Safety Bay Football Club and Shoalwater Bay Cricket Club at Stan Twight Reserve,” president Mark Vernal said.

The Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, WA Football Commission, WA Cricket and Cricket Australia are helping fund the city project, with the clubs contributing to features in the kitchen and social space.
