Dedicated volunteers have worked tirelessly to help give SolarisCare Cancer Support Centre in Bunbury its first refurbishment since opening in 2010.

Volunteers worked from September 5-12, renovating the inside of the facility and landscaping the garden.

SolarisCare volunteer and office coordinator Carline Turner said the refurbishment was overdue.

"It has been a huge job - I am still getting my head around it - but everything looks amazing," Ms Turner said.

"We have been open for five years here and we definitely needed the facelift on both the outside and the inside."

The new-look centre boasts an additional therapy room as well as an outdoor reflection area.

The Ulysses Club donated a water feature, while students from John Curtin College journeyed to Bunbury to lend a helping hand.

Ms Turner said the refurbishment would not have been possible without public support.

"The South West community really helped out," she said.

"From bringing food to supplying the tools, there was a lot of generosity."

SolarisCare volunteer Geoff Sales, who lost his wife Kaye to cancer in 2013, offered his services to help renovate the centre.

He said SolarisCare was a great help to people affected by cancer.

"Everyone has really lent a helping hand to get it all done," he said.

"My sister Jen Edwards volunteers for Solaris in Perth and my sister Glen Scott volunteers at Solaris in Albany - it is an extremely supportive organisation."
