Cops seek witnesses to Rockingham assault

Sound Telegraph

Rockingham detectives are seeking witnesses to a "very vicious" assault and robbery of a teenager at Bungaree Oval last Wednesday.

At 3.45pm on Wednesday, September 10, the 13-year-old girl was walking home when two female teenagers, unknown to the girl, allegedly approached her and demanded she hand over her phone.

Detective Senior Sergeant Steve Crowley alleged when the 13-year-old refused to give up her phone the two offenders proceeded to assault her and punch her in the head, and out of fear she gave up her phone. Sen. Sgt Crowley said it was a "very vicious attack" and asked witnesses to contact Rockingham detectives on 9550 1447 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

He urged owners of smart phones to download the Find My Phone application because it was a great way to locate lost or stolen phones and offered another line of inquiry for police.
