Formula One driver Valtteri Bottas has arrived in Perth ahead of the Auscycling Road National Championships road race on Sunday.

The 35-year-old has swapped four wheels for two and will be competing on the 13.6km circuit through Kings Park into Perth CBD tomorrow.

Bottas took to Instagram on Saturday morning revealing that he had touched town in the city with a snap of Elizabeth Quay.

He then shared a video while on his bike for a “pre-race day spin” through Kings Park with his wife Olympian Tiffany Cromwell who is also competing.

Scenic clips show the cyclists gliding through the famed national park and alongside the Swan River as the early-morning sun beats down.

The couple are taking on tomorrow’s race off the back of a road trip around South Australia exploring idyllic locations from the Adelaide Hills to a luxury retreat in Port Lincoln.

It is the first time the road nationals have been held outside Victoria’s Mt Buninyong in 17 years, with the WA Government securing the event for the next three years.

According to organisers, a combination of late pinches with a gruelling uphill drag make Sunday’s event “anyone’s race”.

As a result, various temporary road closures will be in place from 5am. See the full list here.
