Feast of premium seafood to be served up
Rustico Tapas & Bar will be showcasing WA's freshest and tastiest ocean produce at the inaugural Local Seafood Feast this week.
A broad range of the State's seafood will be on offer during the ticketed lunch on Thursday, December 3, including chilli crab and mussels, crayfish mornay and three-tiered seafood stands.
Rustico director Vanessa Phillipson points to the quality of the dishes, as well as the rare opportunity to exhibit premium local crayfish, as highlights of the upcoming event.
"The challenge (is) to get local crayfish in local restaurants, because the export market is so strong," Ms Phillipson says.
"It's just a premium product, so everyone is going to be getting half a crayfish mornay, after the chilli crab."
Ms Phillipson believes the luncheon will display just why WA can lay claim to the best oceans in the world for producing seafood.
"(It is about) just how clean the water is," Ms Phillipson says. "Clean and pristine - we're not overpopulated, the (produce) is from up and down our coast.
"It's safer, the markets aren't fished out, the produce is given time to grow."
The event is the final partnership function between the venue and the Rockingham Kwinana Chamber of Commerce for 2015, with all profits returned to the RKCC. Tickets are $79 and are available until midnight Wednesday, December 2, unless sold out.
