Rockingham Flames took out two of their three games at the weekend with both the men and women's team blowing away Kalamunda Eastern Suns last Friday, and the men falling to Goldfields Giants on Saturday.

The women were powered by another incredible performance from Sami Whitcomb in their 94-45 victory.

Whitcomb followed up her 49-point game last weekend with a 38-point, 12-rebound performance against the Suns.

Thirty of those 38 points came in the first half, on a variety of sensational pull-up three-point shots.

Jacinta Bourne also added 17 points for Rockingham, who were playing again without All-Star centre Darcee Garbin, who is in Korea playing for the Australian national team.

The victory keeps the women's Flames side on top of the ladder with 19 wins and just one loss.

Their next game is against Mandurah Magic, who are the only team to beat the Flames this season.

The men's team was equally impressive in the hills of Kalamunda against the hapless, bottom of the ladder Suns. The game was never in doubt, as the Flames got up by as many as 27 points in the first half, and cruised to a 109-85 victory.

It was a balanced effort for Rockingham as they had seven players score eight points or more.

Tom Remmerswaal led the team with 23 points and seven rebounds.

However, the Flames were not able to back up their effort last Saturday as they lost to the visiting Giants 99-87.

Rockingham held a 10-point lead early in the second quarter, but back-to-back three-pointers from the Giants quickly cut that lead back to four.

In the second half, the Giants' zone defence bottled up the Rockingham offence, enabling them to pull away from the Flames.

Cooper Land led the team with 21 points, seven rebounds and six assists.

With two games of the regular season remaining, Rockingham have secured a spot in the finals, and sit in fifth place on the ladder.

They take on their Peel region rivals Mandurah Magic at the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre at 8.30pm.
