Secret Harbour Surf Beach Boardriders held their sixth competition event last Sunday with offshore 1m-high waves providing a challenge for the young club members.

Standouts included Bella Rutter, Campbell Forrest and April and Maiko McPherson.

Murray Jacobs took out the open men's event and is the current leader for the season, with Craig Hopkins and Steve Barton also winning their divisions. The next competition will be held on October 18 and will be one of the last for the year.

Club media officer Doug Kitchingman said a single-fin retro day was planned for November, followed by a season wrap-up and an awards presentation.

"It has been a pretty ordinary year as far as conditions go but we managed to plan seven events and our riders have done really well," he said.

The competition attracted a good turnout and club members arrived early to help set up and get the event under way.
