WA’s famous Lotterywest “Ball” is hoping to defend its reigning title as the state’s fastest mascot as it gears up for the iconic WA Day Mascot Race.

The 40-metre race will see the likes of Fat Cat, Johnny and Jenny Docker, Brownes’ “Yogo”, and Wally and Wanda Swan go head to head at the WA Day Lotterywest Family Zone on November 24.

The race will kick off at 12pm.

Celebrate WA chair Scott Jones said the race would be an “unforgettable spectacle”.

“The Mascot Race is a highlight of our WA Day celebrations, embodying the fun and community spirit that defines this event,” he said.

“I encourage everyone to join us at the Lotterywest Family Zone at noon to cheer on their favourite mascots and share in the excitement.”

The November celebration will replace the original WA Day festivities which were cancelled in June due to wet weather.

The WA Day Festival is made possible thanks to support from the WA Government, Lotterywest and BHP and will be held in with The West Test between Australia and India at Optus Stadium on the same day.

Patrons are encouraged to take advantage of the free public transport available to Burswood Park as part of fare free Sundays for all Smartrider holders.
