Residents of a Parmelia home were woken in fright at the weekend when two men believed to be wielding machetes forced entry into their home.

Kwinana Senior Sergeant Glen Willers said the incident occurred about 11.30pm on Sunday.

"The victim was at the home and heard a knock on the door, two offenders entered the property without permission and threatened the occupants with machetes and what we believed to have been a pistol," Sen. Sgt Willers said.

He said the offenders demanded cash before ransacking the house and leaving the property.

Police attended the house and a forensic examination was conducted.

The incident is being investigated by Rockingham detectives.

The Kwinana policing team was also busy at the weekend targeting the central business district.

Sen. Sgt Willers said a 35-year-old man was charged with possession of cannabis in Medina and a driver blew 0.132, in excess of the legal limit, within 500m of his Kwinana home and was charged with drink-driving.

"The local policing teams in Kwinana will be stopping as many vehicles as they possibly can in the Central Business District of Kwinana over the next couple of weeks," he said.

Sen Sgt Willers said the focus was because of people reporting concerns about the town centre including people throwing rocks, and other antisocial behaviour.
