A fifth primary school will open its doors in booming Baldivis next year to cater to the ever-growing population.

The school, temporarily called River Gums Primary School, will open in February for between 300 and 400 students.

The Department of Education last week announced the appointment of Josh Jashari to lead the school as principal.

Mr Jashari said starting a school from scratch had always been a career goal.

"It is a big challenge, but it is something I have wanted to do for a really long time," he said. Mr Jashari said his plan was to create an environment which prepared students for future challenges and focused on building well-rounded students.

"Everything I try to do in a school has to be focused around the students, otherwise there is no point in doing it." he said.

The school is funded as part of the State Government's $1.16 billion four-year capital works program for education, set to increase the State's primary schools by 16.

A sixth school is scheduled to open in Baldivis, near Kerosene Lane in 2017.
