Penn stars for White Knights
Most of the weekend's round 3 games in the Peel Junior Cricket Association were unaffected by rain.
In the under-12s, Mandurah Junior (10-66) were defeated by White Knights Baldivis Yellow (7-126). White Knights' Kallum Penn took 3-4 from his two overs and Lewis Swar made (20).
Meanwhile, in the under-13s Singleton Irwinians (5-110) defeated Secret Harbour Dockers, (10/109), in a close affair at Rhonda Scarott Oval. Matthew Vos (16) was the star with the bat for Singleton. Sullivan Grove (2-8) and Tom Crocker (1-3) were the best of the Secret Harbour bowlers. Singleton's Jack Blacow took 2-5.
Waroona Junior posted their first win in the under-14s competition, defeating Halls Head Gold. Waroona scored 120 thanks to solid batting from Mark Ward (20), Malkaus Singh (17) and Xavier Dello (17). Hayden Brokate, Jackson Constantine, and Zane Sutherland were the best of the Halls Head bowlers.
In reply, Halls Heads' Shaun Pretorius (21) helped his side to 99 all out after Logan Jones took 3-11 for Waroona.
In the Sunday morning under-15s competition Shoalwater Bay took on White Knights Baldivis. White Knights made there way to 9-108 thanks to some strong batting from Ben Merrifield (24). Connor Henry (3-13) and Bevan Kearney (3-17) were the best of Shoalwaters bowlers.
In reply, Shoalwater scored 9-168 thanks to Kalieb Larsen (36), Bevan Kearney (30) and Matthew Banks (32). Jake Makking Robinson was the best of White Knights' bowlers with 3-16.
In the under 17s White Knights Baldivis 7-124 were defeated by Warnbro Swans 7-172.
Josh Allison (2-9) and Braeden Ebert (2 -8) were the the best of Baldivis bowlers, with Ryan O'Keeffe (30) and Brandon Steel (21) the best with the bat.
This weekend marks the start of the Peel Junior Cricket Associations Country Week trials in the under-14s and under-16s.
They are at Lark Hill on Sundays at 4pm for the next three weeks.
