The running of the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic on Sunday lived up to the pre-race hype.

At the closing stages of the 1800m race two stablemates were fighting for the win with unbeaten three-year-old and race favourite Perfect Reflection, ridden by William Pike, holding out the fast-finishing Delicacy.

Both horses were trained by Karnup's Grant Williams.

Williams, who also trained the fourth-placed horse, Neverland, said it was a "very good day".

"I have trained both horses from the start and to have a win like this is great," he said. "With one of them going in as favourite, I had a bit of an idea but I didn't expect such a result."

Perfect Reflection has won each of her five starts and will now take a well-earned break after becoming the first three-year-old filly to win the Kingston Town Classic.

Owned by Bob and Sandra Peters, the daughter of More Than Ready has won $870,950 in stakes in her maiden campaign and could resume at Randwick (NSW) in the autumn.

Delicacy was last season's Australian Champion 3-Year-Old Filly of the Year and will now prepare for the CB Cox Stakes on December 19.
