Rockingham detectives are seeking residents' help over a shooting in Port Kennedy last week.

Acting Detective-Sergeant Gavin Gourgaud said about 4pm on Tuesday, June 2, a 38-year-old Port Kennedy man, in Discovery Crescent, received a handgun wound to his leg and was treated in hospital.

He did not believe the shooter and the victim were directly known to each other.

Det-Sgt Gourgaud said the only details police had to go on were that the shooter was driving a dark-coloured utility.

He urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
