It was not a great day for Rockingham Rams Baseball Club on Sunday as the team conceded 10-0 to ladder-leaders Morley Eagles.

However, Club president Stuart Johnson said it was not all doom and gloom at Hourglass Reserve, as young newcomer Jordan Gilbert, 18, completed an impressive three innings before Morley found the gap.

Johnson said the opposition's pitcher was strong and Rams managed a few runners on the base, but just did not come alive when it mattered.

He said he remained optimistic about the 27-game season, despite Rams' record of three losses and a draw.

"The ball started getting in and we had a few defensive errors - we had a few runners on the base and young Thomas Flinton hit a double," Johnson said.

"There were a few defensive errors but that is something we will work on in training over the next few sessions."

Johnson said the team would take on Perth Mets away from home on Sunday and Swan Districts the following Sunday.

He said winning these two games could be vital in the Rams' bid for a comeback.
