A motorist was rushed to Fremantle Hospital while two others were treated for minor injuries over the weekend, following a spate of car crashes across Rockingham.

A St John Ambulance spokesman said paramedics attended two crashes at Patterson Road on Friday and one resulted in the hospitalisation of a man in his 30s.

He said the man suffered serious upper body injuries after colliding with two trucks close to Office Road shortly before 5pm.

About 900m south, a five car pile-up at Patterson Road close to Alumina Road resulted in minor injuries for one woman in her 20s, according to the spokesman.

A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said firefighters attended the five-car collision shortly after 4.30pm on Friday.

She said one person was removed from a vehicle, but crews were forced to divide when the second crash involving the man in his 30s was reported 25 minutes later.

Elsewhere in the city, a woman in her 40s was taken to Rockingham General Hospital with minor injuries after she was trapped in her car for more than 30 minutes, following a collision with a traffic bridge at Ennis Avenue, close to Safety Bay Road, on Saturday night.

A DFES spokeswoman said cutters and spreaders were brought in to free the woman.

A Fremantle Hospital spokeswoman said the injured man was in a stable condition on Monday afternoon.
