The trade period reaches day four, and with two days of no action, today is likely the day things get moving.

However, it is all up to Richmond as they play hardball on deals involving Shai Bolton, Liam Baker and Daniel Rioli.

That’s that

Another day of no trades is a bummer for this week, but it does mean we are set for an action-packed back end.

Richmond are still at the centre of everything but are staying stubborn as they eye a quick rebuild through the draft.

Join us again tomorrow for day five.

Tiger signs massive contract

AFL journalist Cal Twomey is reporting Noah Balta has signed a seven-yeear extension to remain at Richmond.

Amidst a mass exodus from the club it’s a massive show of faith from the 24-year-old defender who would’ve been a free agent next year.

It also adds to the growing trend of massive deals following Max King’s six-year extension earlier this week.

Staying with the Dogs

Rory Lobb says he never asked for a trade away from the Western Bulldogs.

There had been rumblings over his position at the club after being stuck in the VFL but had a strong second half of the year reinventing himself as a defender.

Riley Garcia’s new deal confirmed

As reported yesterday Riley Garcia has signed a three-year deal to stay at the Western Bulldogs which the club confirmed today.

There had reportedly been some interest from West Coast but the Swan Districts product says he feels he still has a lot to repay the club.

“No doubt that moving away from home has its challenges, but it is a testament to the Club being very family-orientated,” Garcia said.

“I’m very grateful to the coaches at the Club, I feel like they are the right people to get the best out of me.

“This is a Club that drafted me when I was injured at 18, I feel like I have a lot to repay to the Bulldogs – I feel like success is really close.”

A look ahead to the draft

As we await anything to happen on the trade table, here are the players the clubs will likely be fighting over in the draft.

It’s a deep pool this year with plenty of midfield talent with the national combine held over the weekend.

More of WA’s top talent will be in action later today in the state combine.

And now into day 4

News from the wider AFL world

As we await trades the Hawthorn racism trial continues with the Hawks’ legal team making some stunning allegations against a former players.

Jack Macrae situation

The Bulldogs midfielder requested a trade to the Saints nearly a month ago but the two clubs are yet to meet and talk about the move.

Add this one to the list of deals that lokiely won’t happen until the final hours.

Matt Rosa provides more info on Stringer.

“No he has [not given] a formal position,” Essendon list boss Matt Rosa said on Trade Radio.

“We’re in constant contact with Jake’s management and we’ll work through that as more information comes to light.

“He’s locked into a one-year deal and we’ve been in discussions around the tenure aspect and we are aware he’s looking for security at the age he’s at.”

Latest on Jake Stringer

It seems increasingly likely the Essendon forward will find a third home at GWS as he looks to secure a longer-term deal that the Bombers won’t offer him.
