Western Australia could unleash a fearsome fast-bowling pack to start their chase for a fourth one-day title on the bounce.

All of Jhye Richardson, Lance Morris and Jason Behrendorff have been named in WA’s 14-man squad for the first two games of the domestic season — against last year’s finalists New South Wales on Sunday and South Australia on Tuesday.

The State’s all-time leading wicket-taker Andrew Tye, Matt Kelly and Bryce Jackson have also been named as options, with Cricket Australia expected to closely manage the workloads of centrally-contracted bowlers Morris and Richardson.

And in a shock, Sam Whiteman is set to travel east, despite last week ruling himself of the matches with a broken finger.

Cam Bancroft raced home from winning the T20 Blast with Gloucestershire and is ready to line up just days after returning to Perth.

Baxter Holt is a chance to debut, named in the side for the first time after an off-season switch from The Blues, but another option is for Bancroft to take the gloves.

Keaton Critchell could also play his second match for the State. He has been picked in the squad as the only genuine allrounder, with Aaron Hardie and Cam Green on international duty and Hilton Cartwright also required in the middle-order.

Ashton Agar, Tye and Behrendorff are all in the squad despite declining contracts with the program during the winter to open the door to more freelance opportunity.

Ashton Turner will captain the side after missing the back-half of last season — including the final victory over the Blues — with a knee injury.

WA has six player — Mitch Marsh, Cooper Connolly, Green, Hardie, Inglis and Mahli Beardman — with the Australian squad for a five-match one-day series against England.

Josh Philippe is expected to play against his home State for the first time.
