Luke Jackson: Fremantle Dockers star suffers leg injury against Western Bulldogs
Fremantle are sweating on a fresh injury concern to one of their stars, with ruckman Luke Jackson set to take no further part in the club’s clash with the Western Bulldogs.
The 23-year-old appeared deflated in the hands of the Dockers’ medical staff, with trainers putting attention into his left hamstring late in the third quarter.
He did not attend most of the three-quarter time huddle, instead doing stretches and run-throughs along the boundary line under the watchful eye of the team doctor.
When he joined teammates to listen in on coach Justin Longmuir’s final address, his head was bowed. Jackson headed to the bench to begin the final term, as back-up ruck Pat Voss made his way to the middle against Tim English.
Fremantle had already made their sub, with defender Corey Wagner (quad soreness) replaced by Karl Worner in the third term.
Nathan O’Driscoll also has an injury concern, with his left ankle bothering him throughout the match.
It comes as Fremantle prepare to welcome back No.1 ruck Sean Darcy from injury, in what would be his first game of the season. Darcy has missed Freo’s past seven games, dating back to the final weeks of last season.
Darcy played for Peel Thunder in the WAFL on Saturday, alongside star midfielder Hayden Young.
Both are expected to be available for the club’s Gather Round clash with Richmond.
Jackson has played 59 consecutive games, and has not missed a Fremantle match since crossing to the club from Melbourne at the start of the 2023 season.
