The attacking mindset that earned Daniel Gale a PGA Tour start last month has delivered the 27-year-old a drought-breaking victory at the NT PGA Championship.

Gale fired a final-round six-under 65 at the Palmerston Golf and Country Club to secure a four-stroke victory over Queenslander Chris Crabtree.

The New South Welshman had led after the first and second rounds but started two shots back on Sunday.

Crabtree recorded five birdies in six holes mid-round to apply the pressure but his closing 69 wasn't enough as Gale won with a 14-under total.

Having last won in his rookie season on the PGA Tour of Australasia at the 2018 PNG Open, Gale admitted a second victory had been a long time coming.

"It feels every bit of that (five years)," said Gale, who made himself known to American golf fans when he shot a course-record 60 to lead Monday qualifying for the 3M Open four weeks ago.

After his struggles on Saturday, he was determined to bring an attacking mindset to the final round.

"I said that I've got to go out there and just take my chances and just pedal to the metal. No holding back and just try to birdie every hole, essentially," Gale said.

"Thankfully I had everything working well and I took advantage of the majority of all my chances that I had, so the walk up the last was pretty cruisy to be honest.

"I am over the moon. It hasn't really fully sunk in yet."

Gale's Sunday 65 matched his opening round - the two second-best scores of the tournament after Chris Wood's seven-under 64 on Friday.

There was a four-way tie for third at nine under par between Tim Hart (69), Matias Sanchez (71), Ben Ferguson (71) and 54-hole leader Andrew Kelly (72).
