Ski star Lindsey Vonn is to make her official World Cup comeback in both super-G races in St Moritz on the weekend before Christmas.

"That's some big news. She's back. St Moritz, here she comes," Vonn's sponsors Red Bull said on social media on Friday, revealing that the 40-year-old former Olympic champ will make her return at the Swiss winter resort on December 21 and 22.

Vonn revealed in a video: "My body is finally put back together and I hear St Moritz is pretty nice this time of the year.

"One thing I realised is life is really short. When you have the opportunity, you have to take it. There's nothing that I love more than ski racing."

This weekend, Vonn will take part as a pre-race forerunner in the downhill and super-G events in Beaver Creek, United States.

Vonn returned to competitive action in second-tier events in Copper Mountain, Colorado, in order to qualify for the World Cup.

Before her retirement in February 2019, the speed specialist had won 82 World Cup events, Olympic gold in 2010 and two World Championship titles.
