Paris Olympics 2024: Aussie eights featuring WA’s Giorgia Patten, Bronwyn Cox, Jacqui Swick off to repechage

The Australian women’s eight rowing crew, powered by West Australians Giorgia Patten, Bronwyn Cox and Jacqui Swick, recorded the third fastest time in opening heats on Monday night. But the team will still have to qualify through Thursday night’s repechage as only the top two boats go through to the final. The Aussies finished second in heat one in 6min18.61sec behind Great Britain (6:16.20). Reigning Olympic champion Canada was third in 6:21.31. Romania was the fastest through in heat two in 6:12.31 ahead of the US in 6:19.00. Patten and Cox were part of the Aussie eight that finished fifth in the final at the Tokyo Olympics.
