The Scorchers have rejigged their line-up in a bid to return to winning ways at Optus Stadium ahead of their Boxing Day blockbuster against Brisbane Heat.

All-rounder Aaron Hardie has been confirmed for his long-awaited return as a specialist batter, while Perth have also changed up their opening partnership.

One Englishman departs for another as Keaton Jennings makes way for Matthew Hurst.

However, misfiring New Zealand superstar Finn Allen has retained his spot despite a nightmarish start to his time in orange with scores of six, four and zero.

He will get his chance to star immediately with the Heat, captained by former Scorcher import Colin Munro, electing to bowl first.

Cooper Connolly retains his place, batting at three, with Hardie slotting in at four, with Josh Inglis returning to test duties.

Spinner Matthew Spoors has also been dropped, with Lance Morris backed to bring the Heat to the Furnace.

Perth comes into the contest after two tight defeats on the road to Hobart and Melbourne Renegades and will need to balance the ledger to keep their finals aspirations on track.

Brisbane have retained two spinners for the bouncy Optus Stadium with Matthew Kuhnemann and Mitch Swepson while Tom Banton will open the run chase.

After posting a half-century post-Test axing, Nathan McSweeney is set to bat in the middle order.
